MECCA is a high service beauty boutique supported by a curation of the world’s most luxurious beauty brands. There is an exclusive range of over 100 beauty brands across makeup, skin care, body, haircare and more (MECCA 2015). Started by Jo Horgan in 1994, it progressed from opening its first store in 1997 with only seven brands to now being a globally recognised with over 3,000 products and 65 brands.

MECCA has many values that it wants its employees to inspire and encourage them to achieve extraordinary things. Staff are encouraged to be innovative through bringing trends on fashion shows to life and incorporating that into their fields of work. Staff are often seen recreating makeup seen in magazines.
All staff when working are required to wear uniform, which is extremely casual and laid back. There are annual Christmas parties, and annual rewards programs such as the Jo Horgan Award. These are given to the best workers, to celebrate their success. Birthdays and other events are celebrated through the year to ensure employees have breaks and big successes are celebrated so everyone feels like part of a team. The business is very team orientated and suggests a participative management style, where management and staff work together and share the decisions made, this is also supported by the high retention and morale rate of the staff. |
